John Warner Norton

John Warner Norton (1876-1934), a native of Lockport, Illinois, had a long
and distinguished career as a muralist and art educator. This catalog
accompanied an exhibition of his work organized by Jim L. Zimmer of
the Illinois State Museum Lockport Gallery. The exhibition traveled to the
Illinois State Museum in Springfield and the State of Illinois Art Gallery in
Chicago. Alan Artner, an art critic for the Chicago Tribune, named the
exhibition one of the top ten in Chicago for 1992. The catalog explores
the life and art of a multi-talented artist, muralist, and educator. A
chronology of Norton's life and a list of mural commissions are included.
